API - Copper Test Kit - 90 Tests

Product Description
$33.95

Copper – a treatment for many parasitic infections – must be monitored in an aquarium or a pond. The copper level can drop too low for the treatment to be effective, or can increase to a point that is detrimental to fish health. Copper is likely even present in your tap water.

The API® Copper Test Kit allows you to easily and accurately monitor copper levels to maintain copper-based fish treatments at therapeutic levels, and tests copper levels from 0 to 4 ppm. The kit measures both free and chelated copper, and is for use in fresh and saltwater aquariums, or with ponds.

We recommend that you take a few minutes each week to monitor your aquarium conditions and create a better underwater world for your fish. Testing your aquarium water has never been so easy or accurate!

COPPER (Cu+) TEST KIT INSTRUCTIONS

This kit reads total copper level in parts per million (ppm). This kit works in both freshwater and saltwater aquariums.

Read thoroughly before testing. Do not allow test solution to get into aquarium.

To remove childproof safety cap: With one hand, push red tab left with thumb while unscrewing cap with free hand.

  1. Fill the test tube with 5 ml of water to be tested (to the line on the test tube).
  2. Add 10 drops of copper test solution, one drop at a time, holding dropper bottle upside down in a completely vertical position to ensure uniformity of drops.
  3. Cap the test tube and shake the tube for 5 seconds. Keep count of the drops being added. Do not hold finger over open end of the tube as this may affect the test result.
  4. Wait one minute for the color to develop.
  5. Remove the cap from the test tube and while holding it over a white background on the test strip (included) compare the color of the sample with the colors on the test strip. Even a very faint color indicates the presence of copper.

CAUTION: Keep out of reach of children. Eye contact: gently flush with water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lens, if present, after the first 5 minutes, then continue rinsing. Skin contact: wash thoroughly with soap and water. If swallowed, contact a physician or Poison Control Center immediately.
